Cairn is a local-first app. Your data stays on your device. This policy explains how that works.

Information We Collect

We don’t.

Cairn does not require an account. There is no login, no server, and no data sent to us. All of your logs, tokens, and categories are stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you have iCloud enabled, Cairn can sync your data across your Apple devices using CloudKit. This sync is:

Handled entirely by Apple’s infrastructure
Stored in your private iCloud database
Not accessible to us

Analytics

Cairn does not collect analytics, crash reports, or usage data.

Third-Party Services

Cairn does not use any third-party services. The only external service involved is Apple’s CloudKit, and only if you have iCloud enabled on your device.

We do not:

Collect your data
Sell your data
Share data with third parties
Display advertising

Your logs never leave your device (or your private iCloud account, if sync is enabled).

Your Rights

Your data is yours. You can:

Export your logs as CSV at any time from the app
Delete the app to remove all local data
Manage or delete iCloud data through your device’s iCloud settings

The Service

Cairn is a local-first daily logging app. All data is stored on your device and optionally synced via iCloud.

Your Data

You own your data. Cairn stores everything locally on your device. We do not have access to your logs, tokens, or categories. If you use iCloud sync, your data is stored in your private iCloud database managed by Apple.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Reverse engineer or modify the app
Use the app for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to access systems or data you’re not authorized to access

Disclaimer of Warranties

Cairn is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

The app will be available without interruption
Data will not be lost
iCloud sync will always be available

We recommend using iCloud sync or periodic CSV exports to protect against data loss.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cairn and its developers shall not be liable for any damages arising from use of the app.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
