Yardwise is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Information We Collect

Location Data

Yardwise uses your location to:

Fetch weather data for areas you save
Provide accurate area condition assessments

Your location is never stored on our servers. Location data is only used on-device to request weather information from Apple’s WeatherKit service.

Weather Data

We use Apple WeatherKit to retrieve weather forecasts. Weather requests include approximate location coordinates but no personally identifiable information.

Local Data

All your areas, preferences, and assessment history are stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. This data:

Never leaves your device
Is included in your iCloud backup (if enabled)
Can be deleted by removing the app

Analytics Data

We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous app usage data. This helps us understand which features are used and how to improve the app. Analytics data includes:

Feature usage events (e.g. viewing an assessment, adding an area, viewing the outlook)
App version and device type

Analytics data does not include:

Your name, email, or any personal identifiers
Your location or the locations of your saved areas
Weather data or assessment results
Any content you create in the app

Mixpanel assigns a random anonymous identifier to your device. This identifier cannot be used to identify you personally. See Mixpanel’s Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.

Third-Party Services

Apple WeatherKit

Weather data is provided by Apple Weather. Apple’s privacy policy applies to weather data requests. See Apple’s Privacy Policy for details.

Mixpanel (Analytics)

We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous feature usage data as described above. No personally identifiable information is shared with Mixpanel.

StoreKit (In-App Purchases)

If you purchase Yardwise Pro, the transaction is processed by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information.

We do not:

Sell your data
Share personal data with third parties
Collect any personally identifiable information

We do share anonymous feature usage data with Mixpanel for the sole purpose of improving the app. This data cannot be used to identify you.

Your Rights

You can:

Delete all app data by removing the app
Disable location access in Settings
Request information about your data by contacting us

We typically respond within 48 hours.

Common Topics

Weather data — Yardwise relies on weather data from an external provider. If recommendations seem off, there may be a temporary data issue in your area.
Location access — Yardwise needs location access to fetch local weather. Check that location permissions are enabled in your device settings.
Watering tracking — Tap “I Watered” after watering an area to help Yardwise give better recommendations. All watering history is stored locally on your device.
