Large Language Monkeys is a party game you play in a web browser. There’s no account and no login. Here’s what the game keeps, and why.
What we keep
A record of each game
When a game is played, the game sends a record of it to our database so we can make the game better. It includes:
- the Prompts, the cards dealt and played, the lines that were typed, the votes and the scores
- the game’s settings (pace, pack, thinking tokens), how long turns took, and whether the game was finished
- a random ID stored on your device so we can tell one device’s games apart, and whether it’s a phone or a computer
- anything you type into “How was that game?”, and the first name you were playing under when you sent it
It doesn’t include your email address, your IP address, or anything that identifies you outside the game. Nobody else can read these records.
Your email, if you leave it
If you sign up to hear when the game comes to TV or print, we keep that email address for that news alone. It isn’t a newsletter and we don’t share it.
Nothing on your device you didn’t make
The game remembers a few things in your browser so it plays the way you left it: your setup, the names you typed, the order of the deck, your sound setting and whether you’ve played before. That stays on your device. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Who else is involved
- Bot votes. When bot monkeys vote, the lines being voted on (not anyone’s name) are sent to Anthropic’s API to choose a favorite. Anthropic’s API terms say it doesn’t train its models on that data. See Anthropic’s privacy policy.
- Playing on several phones or a TV. Supabase carries the game between the devices in a room. Everyone in a room sees the names and lines typed there. Nothing about a room is kept after the game except the game record above.
- A daily limit on bot votes. To keep costs in check, we count bot-vote requests per visitor per day. We count by a scrambled code made from your IP address and the date; the IP address itself is never stored.
- Hosting. The game is served by Netlify, and its fonts come from Google Fonts. Like any website, they see your IP address when your browser asks for the page.
- Sharing a line. A share link carries the line itself, so anyone with the link can see it. Players’ names in a shared line show as “someone”.
Children
Large Language Monkeys is a family game. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children, and the email signup is meant for grown-ups.
Deleting your data
Email support@stalefishlabs.com to have your email address removed from the list, or to ask about anything above.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
