Q: In 1859 Charles Darwin, the champion of human evolution, became a Christian and renounced evolution on his deathbed.
A: Fiction. This legend was started by Lady Hope, a Christian woman who may have visited with Darwin, and subsequently made the deathbed claim. However, there is no substantial evidence to back up her assertion, and Darwin's family and colleagues denied her claim.
