Q: Birds won't sit on their nests if a human touches one of their eggs because of the human scent left behind.

A: Fiction. Birds have a poor sense of smell, and therefore won't abandon their eggs because of the human scent left when an egg is touched. However, birds are known to abandon nests if they are disrupted early in the incubation period, so you should play it safe and stay away bird nests.
