Q: In 1965 NASA spent $1.5 million developing a pressurized ballpoint pen for astronauts, while the Soviets opted to just use pencils.
A: Fiction. A pressurized ballpoint pen known as the Fisher Space Pen was invented in 1965 by Paul Fisher, at a personal cost of over $1 million, and both U.S. and Russian astronauts have been using them ever since.
